As the NCAA men’s basketball tournament has nearly concluded with all the subtlety of a Chinese tariff and subsequent celebrations involving fireworks that do not involve Xi’s regime, the last calendar year has been interesting in and unsettlingly fashion.
Formerly known as the amateur athletics, sports involving scholarships now identify as a semi-professional syndicate of college athletes striving for a lucrative take in the high stakes game of social media influencers scheming for personal gain prioritizing exclusive branding over team or championship trophies. Somewhere in the universe, the legendary music artist Prince is performing a rendition of “Raspberry Beret” which is optimal background music for the contemporary lingering scandal of amateurism being incarcerated by idealism and promises of participation trophies. The big picture of college sports has been sold out for instant gratification enhanced pathetically through panic rooms funded by taxpayers and endorsed by culturally frivolous sociologists formulating more excuses than the entire gross domestic product of Europe. And the NCAA is complicit in the demise of fierce competition.
With instability rampant and apathy lurking, the transformation of athletic department budgets and permissive policy of individuals allowed to freely play the system for their own benefit in accruing more cross-country flight miles than Democratic lawmakers steadfast to EPA regulations profiting over ineffectual legislation relating to a scale, the transfer portal is an unbridled creature of chaos which aligns dreams and promises with imagination actually producing a misleading destructive lifestyle that diverts from academics and prevents students from learning a viable skill-set as a result of an unsustainable framework.
Combined with the onset of identity politics infiltrating the ecosystem of college sports, and certain athletic departments, things have simply gotten weird along with the detrimental turbulence of players coming and going, the volatile becoming normalized as entropy challenges the trajectory of life within a system that is not priority, but a respite from the rigors of life.
Scholarship athletes are now permitted to exist in a nomadic lifestyle in accruing more frequent flier miles than politicians, which contributes to the graphic novel cartoons of climate crises. This narrative includes the migration across the gender spectrum as men allowed to pose as women ink endorsement deals from corporations invested in developing the product of “confusing relativity”, where looks are both deceiving and provocative to tending and growing insanity.
On a serious note, catering to selfishness and individualism over teamwork, comradery, and kinship, which at one time equated to accomplishment in the fierce competitive arena of a championship level of competition, sustainability, the security of a proven effective formula is now at the mercy of societal engineers and architects of ideological corruption. Detriment is both apparent in the March Madness office bracket pools and the idea Olympic sports being convoluted and polluted by those obstinate to the idea of reason and succumbing to the intoxicant of reckless empowerment. This scenario combined with biological men being integrated into women’s sports only exacerbates a scenario intolerable, the ending of which rivals the climax of a tragedy. Word has it that wildlife will be encourage in the scuttling of college sports, as Bobcats and Mongooses are apparently pursuing scholarships and endorsement deals to join in the feeding frenzy of unjustifiable cannibalism.
In creating a cultural tournament bracket that represents the bizarre disturbing nature of the insidious demon that the NCAA has created, where would a transexual be seeded, compared to a star basketball player attending five different universities in five years while earning a fortune? Parity is allegedly taking a vacation.
The brutal lessons of the Information Age have taught the world that there are no easy answers anymore, and simply enjoying a primetime basketball is flooded by political diatribe and forceful ruthlessness of conformity and the nonsensical. “Weird” is no longer trendy as a serious detriment to the near future.
