“I have a message for our community, our city, and ICE – to ICE, get the f**k out of Minneapolis.” – Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey
The cage match for America’s future took an even uglier turn last week when an ICE officer was forced to use deadly force against one of the increasingly violent leftists trying to impede deportation operations. To hear leftists describe the event, it was an unprovoked shooting of a poor citizen who just happened to park in the middle of the road.
Unfortunately for them, however, multiple videos of the event clearly show that the officer who fired three shots was in front of the accelerating vehicle, as does a bullet hole in the windshield. And using a vehicle to run down law enforcement constitutes assault with a deadly weapon.
That should be the end of the story. But for the ever-lying left, however, it never is.
Why Minneapolis matters …
What is most significant about the event is not merely that …
- Leftists like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey inflame rioters by calling the DHS statement that the shooting was self-defense against a protestor weaponizing her vehicle “bulls**t”, further saying: “I have a message for our community, our city, and ICE – to ICE, get the f**k out of Minneapolis.”
- Nor is it Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who helpfully added: “I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe the propaganda machine”;
- Nor leftist politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who accuse ICE of “murder,” demanding the ICE agent to be prosecuted;
- Nor Democrats deliberately inciting riots with bald-faced lies about the well-documented shooting much as they did with George Floyd and Michael Brown;
- Nor even that the left has found its poster child in what the Daily Mail describes as “37-year-old poet Renee Nicole Good” (whose wife became hysterical at the scene, wailing: “That’s my wife … I have a six-year-old at school … we’re new here, we don’t have anyone”). And never mind that Good, who was a member of “ICE Watch” which devotes itself to hampering deportation operations, had shadowed ICE agents in two other locations the same day.
‘One giant leap’ (toward revolution) …
Nope. All of that is ancillary. What matters most is that with the Minneapolis shooting, the left has taken a big leap toward its intended “Color Revolution,” which Mike Shelby of Gray Zone Research and Forward Observer describes thusly:
“A Color Revolution is supposed to be a nonviolent movement to overthrow and replace a sitting government (e.g. a fascist dictatorship), primarily through mass mobilization protests, public displays of mass political defiance, and other forms of political warfare.
“This predominantly nonviolent approach is part of what gives them moral authority: they’re supposedly just peaceful protesters opposing the brutal, dictatorial regime. And when they can claim that credibly, they gain moral authority and legitimacy because they’re the victim. That’s the narrative.”
And how exactly did they take that big leap? By inducing state and local governments to defy federal law enforcement. And we aren’t just talking about sanctuary cities inviting illegal immigration. According to Fox News, as the riot developed in Minneapolis, requests by ICE for backup by Minneapolis police were denied, reportedly on direct orders from Mayor Frey himself.
Worse, when that refusal caused ICE to bring in more officers to conduct perfectly lawful deportations of violent criminals (as the left intended all along), Governor Walz – the man who could have been your Vice President – told the Minnesota National Guard to prepare to resist federal law enforcement, proclaiming: “I remind you, a warning order is a heads-up for folks, and these National Guard troops are our National Guard troops.”
In fact, several congressional Republicans suggested Donald Trump charge Walz under the Insurrection Act. “The last time they did that was at Fort Sumter and it started the Civil War,” said Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R, WI). “If a state militia acts against the federal government that is actually a civil war. So that guy needs to shut his damn mouth now because he is calling for civil war. Walz is an absolute moron.”
What matters most is that official governmental bodies are defying the federal government and taking the side of lawbreakers, which is tantamount to undermining the legitimacy of a popularly elected President who is doing exactly what he promised voters.
No longer just Antifa
Nor are Walz and Frey the first government officials to foment insurrection. The recent video from Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) features six former military and intelligence Democrats (is that an oxymoron?), including former astronaut Mark Kelly (D-AZ), attempting to undermine the Trump administration as a “threat to our Constitution” by demanding the military disobey “illegal” orders from its Commander-In-Chief. The precise “threats” and “illegal orders” they warned about were never defined, tacitly encouraging individual members of the military to make their own call.
Says Fox News:
“Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., will receive a formal censure letter and that he has directed Secretary of the Navy John Phelan to review the retired Navy captain’s retirement rank and pay and provide a recommendation in 45 days, sharply escalating an investigation alleging he made ‘seditious statements’ that undermined military operations.”
Add to this the various plots to attack ICE, including one by John Bennett, assistant principal at Virginia Beach’s Kempsville High School, and we see increasing propensity for ostensible figures of authority to de-stabilize a popularly elected government.
Where is the “center of gravity?”
The Department of Justice stymied Walz’s plan to give the ICE agent “a fair trial and a quick hanging” when the FBI removed the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension from the investigation.
At issue is what Shelby calls the Color Revolution’s “center of gravity,” which he defines as:
- “[An] individual, method, belief, or condition that an organization needs to maintain power or to keep up the fight. A Color Revolution maintains its power and keeps up the fight primarily through moral authority — they’re the good guys opposing the bad guys.
- “If they can anchor this message and make it the perceived reality for a plurality or majority of Americans, then they’ll gain the popular support required to sustain their operations against the bad guys and eventually win.
- “If you’re the Trump administration, or really any counter-revolutionary, you have to attack this movement’s two Centers of Gravity.”
Fortunately, attacking the first leftist center of gravity appears to be exactly what the Trump administration has in mind, particularly by unleashing Vice President JD Vance to thoroughly decimate media which have lied about the shooting.
At the January 8 White House press briefing, in announcing a new assistant attorney general to investigate both fraud and the organized funding behind recent protests, Vance wasted no time in getting to the meat of the matter:
- “Look, first of all, of course nobody wants an American citizen to be killed. This is absolutely a tragedy, but it’s a tragedy of the making of the far left. They have radicalized a very small segment of the population, taught them that ICE agents are engaging in wide-scale violation of people’s rights. What are ICE officers are doing is deporting the millions of criminal aliens that were let in during the Biden administration.
- “So, number one, we have to say, as a matter of leadership, and I would appreciate if the Democrats would join me on this. Let’s be honest about the fact that we have way too many illegal aliens in this country. Our ICE officers should be supported in doing their job. You’re trying to actually marshal the far left lunatic fringe to engage in doxxing, to try to make it impossible for them to enforce the law, and in some cases, actually to engage in acts of domestic terrorism against our law enforcement officers …
- “Here’s the simple fact. What we’re going to do is make it easier for the American people’s administration to enforce the American people’s law, and that means that Democrats have to stop rallying the mob against legitimate law enforcement operations. And that means that we are going to get tougher, and that’s what this AG position is about. We’re going to get tougher at the people who are defrauding the United States by inciting violence against our law enforcement officers. That’s one of the things that we’re going to do. We’ve already started that work at the Department of Justice. We’re going to keep on doing it and this new AG position is going to kick that into high gear.” [Emphasis added]
When goaded by a reporter demanding “How does being a part of [Antifa] justify being shot?”, Vance blew him away:
- “Well, being part of the network doesn’t justify being shot. But ramming an ICE officer with your car. That’s what justifies being shot. It’s not a good thing, by the way, but when you force somebody to engage in self-defense, it’s almost a preposterous question.
- “I’m not saying that funding some of this stuff justifies capital punishment. Nobody would suggest that the reason this woman is dead is because she tried to ram somebody with her car, and that guy acted in self-defense. That is why she lost her life and that is the tragedy. Now, there may be other violations of the law and other penalties that the — that are associated with those violations of the law. For example, if you are funding violence against our law enforcement officers, I’m not a prosecutor. My guess is that’s not the sort of thing that earns capital punishment, but it should sure as hell earn you a few years in prison if you’re funding the effort to try to insult our law enforcement officers.
- “…I’m sorry, guys, what’s going on here? You guys are meant to report the truth. How have you let yourself become agents of propaganda, of a radical fringe that’s making it harder for us to enforce our laws? You just asked me a question that presumed that the reason why this woman died is because she was engaged in legitimate protest. She tried to run somebody over with her car, and the guy defended himself when that happened. Next question.” [Emphasis added]
The cage match for America
I call our present conundrum a “cage match” because we are at a point when, in centuries past, pilgrims would shed corruption and persecution by casting off for new lands. With no new lands to colonize, however, both sides have entrenched themselves for extended, increasingly violent combat, with one side defending traditional American society and the other plotting a Color Revolution to replace our republic with radical neo-Marxism.
As demonstrated by Democrats and media who feel free to tell transparent lies about Minneapolis (or anything else), we have reached the point in American political debate where facts no longer matter. The “long march through the institutions” strategized by Antonio Gramsci of the Frankfort School’s Institute for Social Research, then perpetuated by Saul Alinsky and his faithful, has successfully inculcated universities, media and the intellectual elite, finally metastasizing to the useful idiots who now riot against ICE, or Israel, or whatever today’s flavor may be …
… or worse yet, the useful idiots who assassinate Charlie Kirk, Israeli diplomats, National Guardsman or if, God forbid, “the third time’s a charm,” the President of the United States.
Rest assured what you are witnessing is more organized, deliberate, and well-funded than any social unrest seen in the 1960’s. Far from a battle against innocents interested in “stopping fascism” we face leftist billionaires and foreign governments funneling money through shadowy non-profits, with the Chinese Communist Party at the forefront.
The good news is that Trump, Vance & Co. seem intent on ripping out that corruption by its roots. The bad news is that doing so requires them to appear increasingly autocratic … just as the left wants.
If the first objective for leftists to establish a center of gravity is undermining the legitimacy of the Trump administration, the second is creating a perception of elections which are not free and fair. At this point, if you say “I don’t do politics,” you are a part of the problem. The cage match for America requires you to fight the left at all levels, particularly in the 2026 elections.
Late-breaking news:
Surprise, surprise, whose money is behind the Minneapolis riots that led to Nicole Good’s death? George Soros’ “Open Society,” of course. They gave $7,850,000 to the “Indivisible Project,” of which the “Individual Twin Cities” offshoot has been leading the Minneapolis protests: Exclusive | Here’s who’s really behind the Minneapolis ICE resistance movement | New York Post
About Paul Valone
Author F. Paul Valone has been kicking leftist tail for twenty-eight years. Alarmed by the U.S. House passage of the “assault weapon” ban in 1994, he decided to take action. Finding no suitable organization, he organized a rally leading to the creation of a 501(c)(4) organization, Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC), which remains North Carolina’s primary and most successful gun rights group to this day.
