The Reload is reporting that recently released Justice Department files related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation indicate former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg—who now supports gun control efforts and was co-founder of Everytown for Gun Safety—”was part of the circle of powerful men” in which Epstein and Gislaine Maxwell also traveled.
Reacting to the report, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms—a national grassroots gun rights organization which has frequently criticized Bloomberg—is calling on the billionaire to fully disclose the nature of any relationship he had with the now-deceased Epstein.
“Here’s a man who has spent millions of dollars supporting efforts to erode Second Amendment rights,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb in a prepared statement Monday. “He needs to be completely transparent regarding his relationship with Epstein and Maxwell, and in the meantime, Everytown should not take a penny from him, even though he is one of the group’s founders.”
The Reload report emphasized that emails contained in the released files “don’t reveal evidence of criminal wrongdoing by Bloomberg or confirm how often he actually attended events with Epstein or Maxwell.”
The article further stated, “The Reload’s analysis of the files released by the DOJ didn’t uncover any direct emails between the trio or evidence that Bloomberg ever flew on Epstein’s private plane or visited his notorious compound in the United States Virgin Islands. However, the emails do show the connection between the trio persisted even after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting sex from a minor in 2008.”
However, the fact that Bloomberg’s name even appears in the Epstein files is enough to raise CCRKBA’s interest.
“It is alarming to learn Bloomberg’s name shows up at all in the released files,” Gottlieb said, “and that’s enough to warrant an explanation from Bloomberg. If there’s nothing to hide, Bloomberg shouldn’t be worried about clearing the air. The time to do that is right now. After all, he has advocated for so-called ‘expanded background checks’ on gun buyers for years. Maybe he’s the one who should face a thorough background check.”
Bloomberg reportedly did not respond to “multiple requests for comment,” according to The Reload. It also appears there is no indication in the released files that Bloomberg ever attended any meetings at Epstein’s home sometime in 2012, to which he had apparently been invited.
“You can be certain that if the names of prominent gun rights advocates showed up in Epstein’s files, the legacy media would be all over that story,” Gottlieb observed. “Come clean, Mr. Bloomberg.”
