This is from friends in Israel:
“We all know about the armed invasion of Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza on 7 Oct 23 and mass murders, rapes, destruction, and hostage-taking that ensued.
It has now been revealed that female housekeepers, who lived in Gaza and commuted back and forth for work, in and out of Israel every day, as they worked for families in Jewish settlements near the border, had been progressively recruited by terrorists to gather intelligence!
Eventually, these women were all surreptitiously working for Hamas terrorists, who had been carefully planning this coordinated invasion for some time.
What few defensive arms there were in these outlying settlements were perpetually locked in ‘armories’ (of assorted descriptions) with only a very limited number of specifically-designated people having access to them. This grossly-inadequate ‘security plan’ was no secret. Hamas knew all about it!
Thus, the main intelligence task of these camouflaged terrorist operatives was to note and report locations of these armories and specifically identify the few people who had access to them, and where they lived.
Part of the invasion plan was to locate and immediately murder those specific people, so arms that were locked-up in the community’s ‘armory’ could never be accessed, by anyone.
Terrorists didn’t need those guns (they brought their own!). They just wanted to be sure all their hapless victims were completely unarmed and defenseless!
Unhappily, that part of their plan was largely successful (with a few notable exceptions).
In the 1940s Israel was settled by its audacious Jewish founders, who while courageous and visionary, were still basically European socialists!
Accordingly, they didn’t like the thought of guns in private hands, and still don’t, although current Israeli leaders are quietly reversing (against much obstinately naive push-back) that long-standing public doctrine.”
And if you’re wondering if there is a point lurking in all this, here it is, and we dare not miss it (as many, even in Israel, still have):
Guns, privately and anonymously – acquired, owned, kept, and borne by individual sovereign citizens is the Key to both personal and national security!
By contrast, “community guns,” gathering dust in armories, will never protect anyone, as we see!
Privately-owned and kept guns will and do dissuade evil-doers the way nothing else can, far better even than police and standing armies.
Our dauntless Founders well knew and understood the foregoing, via bitter experience, which is precisely why they audaciously inserted our Second Amendment into our nation’s Constitution.
Israel’s leaders are (finally) figuring it out. One can only wonder how much more “bitter experience” they still need!
In fact, how much more “bitter experience” do Jewish citizens of this country need?
